My husband and I came here for dinner before our movie date. The atmosphere was great, service was excellent and the food was delicious. The only picture I got was of the outside because I was so hungry I ate before my phone did but overall great spot, will return.

Full disclosure...I luv this place and their menu. But tonight, the service was off and the food missed the mark. I had never had their wings before tonite....and I won't ever again. Who doesn't shake their wings in the sauce? These were fried and then served with sauce on the side....i didn't think I went to KFC! The bacon appetizer and hush puppies were good...but that honey butter that was served with the hush puppies was like crisco in a cup. You couldn't dunk ur puppy in it. Better to warm it up or serve hot honey. The chicken finger app was great as always...great breading and juicy. To be clear, I don't fault our server...I think the delay was in the kitchen. The place was not that crowded...and there was no one at the bar, so the bartender could have helped deliver drinks instead of phone surfing.

I stopped by here this past Friday with my wife and twins for dinner. One of my fellow Yelp elites had called the Thorn Hill Taphouse burger the best in Pittsburgh and so I was happy my family finally a time to come here. Since my twins are still young, my wife and I opted for the to go route and placed our order for a 5:30 pickup through their website. The restaurant itself is located right off the Wexford exit of 79 and so is very easy to get to. Whenever we arrived there at shortly after 5:30 PM, I found my food sitting there and ready and so I can't really comment about the inside except for the hostess station. For dinner on this evening I went with the pimento burger and chose the beef burger with no tomato while my wife went with the BBQ Bacon Burger and also chose the beef burger. Then we also ordered a Bunch 'o Pups to share between our whole family. The menu described my burger as pimento cheese spread, brown sugar bacon, herb mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion while my wife's was described as brown sugar bacon, hickory BBQ, lettuce, tomato, haystack onions, mayo, cheddar and the hushpuppies had no description. The first item that I ate on the way home was the hush puppy. It was fried nicely and had a crispy exterior with the gritty cornmeal type interior that you expect from it. Overall it was quite good, especially when dipped in the honey butter and my favorite part was the surprising lingering heat that it left on your palette. Then one we got home I was able to tuck into my burger. My burger itself was good as it was flavorful and juicy. The bun was toasted which meant it stood up the the Mayo and other wetness and I enjoyed the saltiness of the bacon, even if I didn't taste the brown sugar on it. What was disappointing on my burger was the pimento cheese spread. For me it was lost and didn't really add anything to the burger which is a shame as that is why I had ordered it. Still, the burger was good and I would like to try a different one. The burgers themselves came with fresh cut fries which my wife, kids and I all really enjoyed. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While I was a bit disappointed in the pimento cheese portion of my burger, the rest of it and everything else that we ate was pretty stellar.

Overall really nice experience here at the thorn hill. I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich and was told it was a step above Chick Fil A. I enjoyed it throughly! The sweet potato fries came out hot and fresh. The beer selection is great, seems like they have options for everyone. Our waitress was attentive and did a great job getting me what I needed. The atmosphere of the place is cool, lots of decor that has a rustic feel. Clean and a great place to host a group of people.

The service was so friendly. Our waitress thanked us for our patience a few times, but none of us thought the service was slow. All good. The menu had some really interesting selections. The food was very good, tho I wish I'd gotten the cauliflower instead - it looked really good. The fries were okay. Not soggy, but also not warm. I was served a frosted glass with my cider, which was a very nice touch - especially since I would have chosen a different drink if I'd realized the seasonal choices were not on draught. I liked the vibe of the restaurant and how open it was with the garage doors open everywhere. If you want a total indoor feel, you can't really get that on a nice day, but we were cool with that. It was nice when we were there. The only bummer gif me was that the Cuban sandwich ciuidvf be modified in any way. I love Cubans, but hate Swiss cheese. This probably means it wouldn't be as fresh as what I chose, but I still would have liked to try it with another cheese. The broccoli in my sandwich wasn't cut up quite enough, but was still good & so was the flavor. The ciabatta bread was delicious. It made it a bit difficult to eat, since it was so big. Large portions and good food & service in a great location. We'll definitely be back.
